BOX RULES

  1. BE EARLY AS CLASSES START ON TIME
Give yourself enough time to change, use the restroom, do mobility, warm up, work on weaknesses, or even say hello to your fellow Urbanites BEFORE class starts. You have until 10 minutes after class starts to come in and do late burpees. If you miss the class warmup, you cannot join the WOD. This is for your safety and those around you. Crossfit Urban Edge reserves the right to use discretion on a case by case basis.
  2. This is your box too – KEEP THE GYM CLEAN
Leave your personal belongings in your secured lockers (Lockers are available [for rent] to leave and secure your personal belongings). Clean as you go! Clean up your chalk, sweat, blood, and puke. Pick up your used tape, pens, white boards, chalk, band-aids, water bottles, and sweaty clothes. Put all equipment you used back where it belongs. Stack the boxes neatly, put the bars in the racks, stack the plates neatly and properly, and hang up your jump ropes. Return all equipment to its home.
  3. RESPECT EVERYONE IN OUR URBAN EDGE FAMILY, YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS AND COACHES
Share the equipment. If you are using heavy weights don’t hog all the 10s and 15s! We are so proud that everyone is getting stronger so please use the bigger weights;  we made them available for a reason. Be aware of your surroundings: If you are done with your WOD, stay out of the path of those who are actively working out.
  4. LISTEN UP!
….Especially before the WOD while Coach is instructing & demonstrating the movements! (So nobody does pull ups when everybody is doing muscle ups!)
  5. WE ARE A TEAM!
Cheer, clap, and encourage others. Anything less is cheating yourself of the experience of the CrossFit community. We should work out as a team and FINISH TOGETHER. No one should ever strip their bars or put their equipment back until the last person is done with the WOD. Encourage those around you to finish strong if you finish before them. Help them through it.
  6. CHECK YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR!
Accidents and injuries happen and usually come as a result of impatience. Slow down. Ask questions. Ask for help. Above all practice safe habits. There are progressions to an Rx skill for a reason.
  7. GREET NEW MEMBERS
Introduce yourself to everyone in class. Help us to build our CrossFit family by making sure everyone feels welcome. No one wants to workout with strangers!
  8. DROP AS A LAST RESORT
At no point should you ever be dropping an empty bar or a bar with a single set of 10s or 15s on it. They WILL break and you WILL be responsible for replacing it. If you have to drop, please be aware of people and your surroundings.
  9. CHALK
Please keep excess chalk inside the bucket. Do not use it to pretend you are Lebron James aka no clapping chalk! Use chalk with caution as it can get pasty and peel the skin away even faster. To increase your grip strength use less chalk. You will also rip less with less chalk use.
  10. NO CHEATING
If you think you are benefiting from skipping a round to get a “better” time you couldn’t be more wrong. You are only cheating yourself and your progress.
  11. DRESS CODE
We don’t have one! Wear whatever you are comfortable in! Want to take your shirt off? Awesome, we will too! Don’t ever feel uncomfortable to take your shirt off and cool down as we all know that feeling!
  12. BRING YOUR OWN “TOOLS”
This includes tape, gloves, wrist wraps, towels, water, mats, tape, tape, tape, and did we mention tape? If you don’t have one, check out our Retail Row.
